日本庭園付きの立派な書院で、高貴な2人が、机で額を寄せて密談中。1人が立って襖を開けると、床に磬台(けいだい)・筆が、壁に2振りの日本刀。

In a splendid shoin with a Japanese garden, two nobles are having a private conversation with their foreheads together at a low table. When one person stands and opens the fusuma, there is a rug and a brush on the floor, and two Japanese swords on the wall.

　これは、南北朝期、京都・大徳寺での、後醍醐天皇と三浦大納言時光公と思われます。

Retired Emperor Gotoba's Jokyu Disturbance and Emperor Godaigo's 60-year strife in the Northern and Southern Dynasties were both actions driven by the imperial court's desire to improve Japan.
